Using the International Lesson Series, the Wesleyan class offers structured, steady Bible study focused on applying Scripture to daily life. The group blends theological reflection, practical insight, and meaningful conversation. It’s a great fit for those who enjoy an organized approach to learning with consistent fellowship and spiritual growth. Fellowship is a conversation-focused class that journeys through the New Testament together, exploring what the text meant then and what it means for us today. The group values honest discussion, shared insight, and encouraging relationships. If you’re looking for a class that combines biblical depth with a warm, engaging community, Fellowship is an ideal place to connect. Serendipity is a friendly, multigenerational class that works through individual books of the Bible with open discussion and practical reflection. It’s a place to grow in Scripture, build relationships, and enjoy genuine Christian fellowship. A periodic multi-week course for those new to Covenant or new to the faith. Led by Pastor Michael and centered on the doctrines of the Global Methodist Church, this class introduces the core beliefs, practices, and mission of the Global Methodist Church while helping participants take their next steps in discipleship. Dive deeply into Scripture alongside others who are seeking wisdom, clarity, and transformation. Our Bible studies create space for honest questions, insightful conversation, and practical application, helping you encounter God’s Word in a way that shapes everyday life. Men's Bible study meets at 6:30 AM every Tuesday morning, and provides a space where men of all ages can gather for Scripture, encouragement, and honest conversation. Each session includes Bible reading, discussion, and practical reflection on what it means to follow Christ in daily life, family, work, and leadership. Explorer’s Bible Study offers an in-depth, structured approach to Scripture through weekly lessons, discussion groups, and guided teaching. Whether you join an on-site group or connect with one of EBS’s online classes, this study provides a consistent, enriching way to develop a deeper understanding of God’s Word. They meet at 9:00 AM Wednesday mornings in the Holley Building. Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) is a free, in-depth, interdenominational Bible study that meets weekly around the world. Using a four-fold method — personal daily reading, small-group discussion, teaching, and study notes — BSF helps participants engage deeply with Scripture and grow spiritually. They meet each semester at 6:30 PM in the Holley Building children's room. Experience authentic community in a setting small enough for real connection and big enough for meaningful spiritual growth. In our fellowship opportunities, you’ll share life, pray together, discuss faith, and build lasting relationships that encourage you to follow Jesus more closely. Kelly and her husband, Travis, live in Lafayette and enjoy traveling—especially to NASCAR races—and spending time with family. In her free time, Kelly enjoys cooking, baking, and relaxing with their Siberian Husky, Bartleby. Tanner serves as our Director of Youth Ministry & Multimedia at Covenant, where he combines his passion for ministry with creativity. He grew up in Amite, Louisiana, where his faith was deeply shaped by his time in youth ministry—an experience that inspired his own calling to serve the next generation. Tanner has a passion for music & movies that he shares with his wife Camryn. He is pursuing seminary, and brings both a servant’s heart and technical skill to his work. She gets to spend her days sharing the love of Jesus with the best teachers she knows – our kids! She believes learning about God should be filled with joy, creativity, fun and laughter. She loves building a program where kids know they are deeply loved and a place they can’t wait to come back to each week! Carrie shares her love of music and worship each week by directing the choir here at Covenant. She has been singing since the age of three, which makes her officially older than most hymnals but still young enough to keep the altos in line. Carrie also founded Posh Bouquet in Youngsville, where her love of beauty shines through flowers as well as music. She and her husband, Scott, enjoy life with their three sons—Ben, Beau, and Braxton. Destin grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and has served in various ministry roles across the state. With a heart for worship, he has been a part of several music ministries, helping to cultivate vibrant worship experiences. Here at Covenant, he is passionate about fostering community and spiritual growth within our contemporary worship service. Lacy has been the custodian here at Covenant for the past nine years, and can’t wait to continue serving for many more years to come! Lacy credits the people of Covenant as being like the hands and feet of Jesus in her life. Her husband is a pastor, and she is a children’s pastor. They have six wonderful children together. For Lacy, Sunday is her favorite day of the week - she loves serving others and sharing in the joy of the church.  Tabitha's in God and passion for educating and leading children has led her to be a part of Covenant Preschool for the past 20 years. She is married and has three adult children who attended Covenant Preschool when they were younger. She now has two grandchildren who are also part of the school at Covenant! In her spare time, she enjoys reading, going to her camp in Toledo Bend, collecting pink depression glass and spending time with her family. Megan has been serving for 19 years at Covenant Preschool Ministries. She went to ULL and Louisiana Tech University and obtained a bachelor's degree in general studies. She has one daughter named Kensie and one dog named Stella. We seek to encourage the growth of young disciples in our church and our community. We do this by learning scripture, serving others, and sharing Christ with the world all while having fun. Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Our youth group meets in the Holley Building, which is located between both worship spaces. The youth room is located at the end of the hall, in room 6, and can be accessed by the rear parking lot and entryway. Tanner grew up in the small town of Amite, LA where he grew in faith through the dedication and passion of the youth director of his local Methodist church. MICHAEL CLOUD** ### Senior Pastor ### COVENANT METHODIST CHURCH The question of being a “lifelong Methodist” has always been an interesting one to me. I was born and raised in the Methodist Church, but for me, this meant I never had to give any serious thought to my faith. It was simply part of the normal rhythm of life and required no real consideration or commitment on my part. God would be sure to fix that! After pursuing a variety of career interests across the country with little to no sustainable success, there came a day when God graciously opened my eyes to the purpose He intended for my life. Not only did God reveal my call into pastoral ministry, but He also instilled within me a passion for discipleship, missions, and evangelism. Following that call, I served as a missionary to the Khmer people of Cambodia from 2011 to 2016. During this time, I met my wife, Lida, who also served at one of our ministry sites in Phnom Penh. We now have three wonderful children who continually ask for a Bible story before bed (I’m beginning to think it’s a ploy to avoid bedtime, but I’ll take it!). I graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Psychology and a minor in English. I then attended Saint Paul School of Theology in Leawood, Kansas, where I earned my M.Div. with an emphasis in Wesleyan Studies. Throughout these academic endeavors, I also served as a youth minister and was later appointed as a Licensed Local Pastor in Missouri.  Returning home once again, I served as the Associate Pastor at Trinity Methodist Church in Ruston. Being ordained as an Elder in the Global Methodist Church while serving at Trinity deepened my bond with the congregation in such a way that they became more than just the church that raised me. They became a faith family that has truly walked with me through my lifelong journey of learning what it means to be a Christian and how to live out that identity through the Methodist Church. Since arriving in Lafayette in March of 2025, my family and I have been deeply blessed by the wonderful people of Covenant Global Methodist Church. My wife, Camryn, and I love being a part of this church family, and our little Chihuahua, Ozzy, is never far from the action at home. I’ve always been drawn to creative things—whether playing music, building something new, or finding fresh ways to connect faith with everyday life. I see creativity as one of the ways God has wired me, and I love using those gifts to engage our students in meaningful, Christ-centered ways. Ministry became real for me when I was a teenager. I grew up in church, but it wasn’t until I became part of a youth group that faith moved from being just “something I knew about” to being something I lived. In that setting, I experienced God’s love through worship, missions, and friendships, and I began to sense that He was calling me to help others find the same thing. At Covenant, I’ve discovered a true home where I am teaching young people to trust Christ, serve others, and live out their faith. My guiding principle has been simple: if we give students Jesus above everything else, He will do the work of transformation. That conviction continues to shape everything I do. I believe God has called me to a lifetime of ministry, and I’m excited to see how He continues to shape both me and the youth of Covenant for His Kingdom. Derided by others as a “new sect of Methodists” for their “methodical” ways of practicing the faith and holding one another accountable to it, the small group embraced the insult and persevered in their fellowship. And so they and the millions who followed after them have ever since been known as “the people called Methodists.” Here at Covenant, we are part of a larger group of churches known as the Global Methodist Church. As Methodists, we follow a set of beliefs outlined in the Book of Doctrines and Discipline, the official doctrine of the GMC. Below are a selection excerpts from this text as well as explanations of our faith, with the full text being provided for download. There is but one living and true God, everlasting, without body or parts, of infinite power, wisdom, and good; the maker and preserver of all things, both visible and invisible. And in unity of this Godhead there are three persons, of one substance, power, and eternity—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. The Wesleyan tradition celebrates the universal love of God in affirming that Christ died for all people with the result that the gift of salvation is available to all persons through the ministrations of the Holy Spirit. Our Father in Heaven is not willing that any should be lost (Matthew 18:14), but that all may come to “the knowledge of truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). With the Apostle Paul, we affirm the proclamation found in Romans 10:9, “That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” The canonical Sacraments ordained of Christ are not only badges or tokens of Christian men's profession, but rather they are certain signs of grace, and God's good will toward us.  There are two Sacraments ordained of Christ our Lord in the Gospel; that is to say, Baptism and Communion. We believe Baptism signifies entrance into the household of faith, and is a symbol of repentance and inner cleansing from sin, a representation of the new birth in Christ Jesus and a mark of Christian discipleship.  We believe children are under the atonement of Christ and as heirs of the Kingdom of God are acceptable subjects for Christian Baptism. Children of believing parents through Baptism become the special responsibility of the Church. They should be nurtured and led to personal acceptance of Christ, and by profession of faith confirm their Baptism.  For those new to the Methodist Church, we affirm that Baptism is not limited by age and is open to anyone. We believe the Lord's Supper is a representation of our redemption, a memorial of the sufferings and death of Christ, and a token of love and union which Christians have with Christ and with one another. The bread which we break is a partaking of the body of Christ; and likewise the cup of blessing is a partaking of the blood of Christ. Those who rightly, worthily and in faith eat the broken bread and drink the blessed cup partake of the body and blood of Christ in a spiritual manner until he comes.  All are welcome to receive the Lord's Supper, as the table of the Lord is open to everyone.  Following both the example and teachings of Jesus, we believe that God calls us to love and serve others around the world in His name. Since God first stirred the hearts of John and Charles Wesley to feed the hungry, visit those in prison, oppose slavery, and care for those less fortunate, Methodists have believed in meeting people at their point of need and offering them Jesus. Our worship team uses their musical gifts to guide the congregation in praise each week. Sound, lights, and media make worship possible, and the tech team ensures that everything runs smoothly. From managing audio levels to coordinating livestreams, this ministry makes it possible for people both in person and online to connect with God without distraction. Serving here is a way to combine technical skill with spiritual impact. Through the unique beauty of handbells, this group adds depth and joy to our worship services. Their music blends precision, teamwork, and praise, creating a sound that fills the sanctuary with wonder. Each ring is an offering to God, reminding us of the harmony we share as His people. The altar guild quietly and faithfully prepares the sanctuary for worship each week. From arranging communion elements to caring for linens, candles, banners, and paraments, their behind-the-scenes work helps create a space of reverence and beauty. By serving in this way, they help our congregation enter God’s presence with focus and joy. Our children play a vital role in worship by carrying the light of Christ into the sanctuary. Serving as acolytes helps them learn responsibility, reverence, and the joy of being part of God’s work. This ministry allows young disciples to lead by example while reminding the whole congregation of Christ’s presence with us. Love Baskets is our monthly food pantry ministry that provides groceries and essentials to families in need. By offering both practical help and a warm welcome, we seek to ease burdens and remind our neighbors that they are cared for. This ministry is a tangible way for our church to share Christ’s love and nourish both body and spirit. From seasonal celebrations to fellowship gatherings, church events bring us together as one family. These opportunities strengthen relationships, create lasting memories, and open doors for newcomers to feel connected. A faith journey shared. ## Who leads? ## Join the circle ### COVENANT METHODIST CHURCH Originally called Class Meetings, a small group in the Wesleyan tradition is a small circle of disciples who gather regularly to grow in Christ through honest spiritual conversation, prayer, and Scripture-centered encouragement. It’s not a class where you sit and listen, but a space where everyone shares and everyone grows together. In the early Methodist movement of the 1700s, these meetings were the heart of spiritual formation. John Wesley organized societies into groups of 10–12 people led by lay leaders who cared for the souls of their group with confidentiality, prayer, and ongoing encouragement. What began as a practical way to structure growing societies quickly revealed a deeper strength: transformation rooted in community, honesty, and accountability under God’s grace. These gatherings are what resulted in the movement we know today as the Methodist Church. Group leaders are trained lay members who create a safe spiritual environment, guide conversation with care, and uphold trust and confidentiality. They check in, pray for their group, and help connection continue throughout the week. Small groups take place regularly across the life of our church, with new groups forming as people step forward. Since 1982, Covenant has served families in and around Lafayette by providing a safe, loving, and developmentally rich environment for young children. Our passion is simple: to help children grow in confidence, curiosity, and God’s love. We partner with families to nurture the whole child—spiritually, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. We believe that children thrive when they feel secure, encouraged, and loved. Every day is an opportunity to explore, wonder, and grow. Covenant Preschool Ministries is licensed by the Louisiana Department of Education with a Type 1 License, which means we meet or exceed all state standards for: Our team is committed to high-quality early childhood education in a Christ-centered environment. Tabitha's passion for educating and leading children has led her to be a part of Covenant Preschool for the past 20 years. She has three adult children who attended Covenant Preschool when they were younger, and now has two grandchildren who are also part of the school at Covenant! Megan has been serving for 19 years at Covenant Preschool Ministries. She attended ULL and Louisiana Tech University and obtained a bachelor's degree in general studies.
